Microbiology
The Department of Microbiology undertakes the teaching of undergraduate medical students and the pass percentage in each exam exceeds 90%. The department is well equipped with different sections including Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Parasitology, Mycology, Serology and Virology labs and a good museum. The department also aids the P.G. dissertation of MDS students every year. We are proud to say that we have more than 10 publications in the last three years in indexed journals. The diagnostic activity is boosted by automated blood & body fluid culture (by BacT Alert), automated bacterial/yeast identification & susceptibility (by Vitek-2), automated ELISA and the faster TB culture system MGIT. Appropriate biosafety precautions are maintained in each working area for the laboratory staff. The department also contributes to public-private partnership in association with RNTCP & NACO where the diagnosis of tuberculosis and HIV are done free of cost. It also contributes to the infection control activities in the Hospital. It has a well-equipped research lab where PhD activities will be initiated. The library in the department is well maintained and it can cater to P.G. course and Ph. D as well.

- Two demonstration rooms each with a capacity of 75 students. These rooms are fitted with strip chairs, overhead projector, television etc.
- Practical Laboratory: Well equipped practical laboratory with preparation room to accommodate 60 students.
