Physiology

Physiology is all about the functioning of the various organ systems in the human body and their complex interactions under normal and altered states. Physiology forms the foundation of all medical sciences and is taught to a wide range of medical, dental and paramedical undergraduate students. This understanding enables the students to correlate between normal and disease conditions; contributing to the development of core skills of a competent doctor. The Department of Physiology of KMCT MEDICAL COLLEGE has an excellent infrastructure and experienced faculty to aid teaching and research activities. They are involved in various research activities and have presented papers at various conferences and published papers in different national and international journals.

The various domains of the subject are revealed to the students through organised lectures (160 hours), seminars, tutorials, small group discussions (200 hours) etc. Practical sessions (haematology practical and clinical examinations-120 hours) are conducted for small groups so that they get individual attention thereby helping them to develop their practical skills. Vertical and horizontal integration sessions are also conducted with various specialities to empower their clinical knowledge. Regular assessment of the academic progress of the students is done by conducting theory and practical assessment tests (like written examinations, viva voce, OSPE etc).

The department has two demonstration rooms with a seating capacity of 75 students each. They are fitted with Strip Chairs, Over Head projector, television etc.
